busy day!

Today started with taking the boys to school! I got to sleep for another 2 hours after that which brings the grand total of the night to 6 hours!! YAY!! That's the most sleep I've had in DAYS! I had my job interview... it went well! Provided that I pass the background check and drug test the job is mine!! Thank the Lord that something came through :) He is soooo faithful!! :)

Christmas Day...!

Did I somehow manage to FORGET this detail about Christmas day!? Oh my… this just won’t do!

Jason got pulled over on Christmas day!

The officer comes up to the window... conversation goes like this....

Officer: Are you Jason?
Him: Yes.
Officer: Can I see your ID?
(Jason hands him ID)
Officer: Hm. I'm going to have to ask you to step out of your truck and come back to my car with me.
(Jason gets out and goes back)
Officer: The reason I pulled you over today is because I ran your plates and it came back that there's a warrant out for your arrest in Colorado.
Jason: In Colorado!?
Officer: Yes. Apparently you have an unpaid speeding ticket and a failure to appear in court.
Jason: But my wife took care of that! We still have another month to pay it!
Officer: Well, that's now what my computer says, and until you correct it, I’m going to have to take you to jail.
Jason: Oh my god.
Officer: There's one more thing I need to inform you of, you see, I was at a Christmas party earlier and your wife put me up to this.

Oh yes. I’m THAT mean. He still gets nervous when we pass police… LOL!

Another month... almost two!

I really suck at this blogging thing. Here's the latest 411...

Christmas was wonderful! We went to some friends’ house for Christmas dinner. It was wonderful to be surrounded by loving people!

I'm back in Idaho visiting my parents. The original plan was for Jason to work overtime while I was gone, but CH cut back his hours to 48. So the next plan was for me to find a temp job here so we can save a little cash. I'm working on it and have an interview tomorrow... pray that things go well! They have already cut a few guys at CH back to 40 hours... and that would be very bad. Please pray that they don’t do that to Jason!

My Grandma Tina was in a nasty car accident on Thursday, but is expected to be okay. She’s still in the ICU for now but is doing better. My parents are in California taking care of her and I am staying with Jonathan and Jordan... aka Israel and Lebanon (they fight like warring countries). So far there has been peace at the house... thank God!!

College starts March 9th if everything goes as planned! We’re still talking about majors. I think Jason is leaning towards accounting and I'm all over the place. I feel like one of those little kids who doesn’t know what they want to be when they grow up. You know, the ones who say, “I’m gonna be a doctor, and a teacher, and a mommy, and a spaceman, and a nurse, and a lawyer, and a singer, and an artist!”

My mom has been fighting with the College Board for months to get them to grand accommodations for Jonathan to take his SATs. He really needs them because of his brain injury, and until yesterday they were completely unwilling to grant them. It turns out that a no-nonsense attitude, harsh tone of voice, and the ability not to take no for an answer really speeds things up! It took me 10 minutes on the phone to get ALL accommodations granted… LOL! :)

That’s about all for now. Hopefully I will have photos soon! :)

A month already!?

Well... it's already been a month... so here's a quick review of what has happened!!!

My birthday was great - went to Cheyenne and had a good time. Jason got pulled over again. haha.

Sadie and Zeus ran away the day after... we've heard nothing from them in over 3 weeks. I put up signs and checked with all the vets and animal shelters within 100 miles, but nobody has heard anything about them. I'm very sad for them and miss them a lot, but I am sure that they are happy in their new home - be it with a new family, or... well, I’m sure their happy no matter what!

We got a new puppy and named him Krypto. He's a lab and Border collie mix and is 7 months old. He is all black except for the long fur on his hind legs. Just the tip of the hair is white so it looks like he has a frosted butt. It's so cute! He's VERY smart and is learning new words every day. So far he knows his name (Krypto - like kryptonite from Superman), mommy, daddy, potty, outside, sit, stay, cheese (yes, he LOVES cheese!), and is Italian, Roman, and Mexican names. His Italian name is Kritoni Bologna Macaroni. His Roman name is Krytimous Maximus. His Mexican name (and you must sing this to the tune of La Cucaracha for it to work properly) is Krypito Bandito Mosquito Burrito Pupito. And he answers. To all of them. I know its stupid, but it keeps us very entertained!

My new boss invited us to his cousins’ house for Thanksgiving. We had Mexican food. Jason had to work, so he came late. After the rest of us ate we decided to play a joke on Jason. We scraped all the leftovers onto a place and set it aside - telling him that all the food was gone, but we managed to save him one plate. He was so sweet and so gracious about it... and the rest of us were in tears with laughter. It's a good thing my hubby has a sense of humor! :)

We have picked a church officially! We're attending the E-Free church. We have some new friends and are planning a get-together sometime soon. We have one other couple that we've gone out with, too. We're making friends slowly but surely.

I started my new job and LOVE it! It's wonderful... very laid back, very fun.

Today marks the third snow of the year! We have gotten about 2 inches so far. We got this much snow once before, and because of the wind it resulted in 18 inch snow drifts on the side of the road. Thankfully, the snow is falling this time, not flying (although, it's still coming down at a 45 degree angle).

My mom's birthday is on Monday, so make sure you send her a face book and tell her congrats on surviving another year... hehe :)

Our trip to Boise has been pushed out, yet again, to January. It feels like we'll never make it home sometimes... *sigh*

I really should go home and let Krypto inside. He doesn't like the snow much, and it is rather chilly outside.

and the winner is...

Well America, how does it feel to have a socialist President-elect!?

I'm sad because I hate to see our 1st and 2nd amendment rights take such a hit. I hate to see God taken so far out of government, because that is NOT what our founding fathers want, and it’s not what He wants! But I know that God is in control and he knows what’s going to happen. I'm thrilled to see how far America has come. Regardless of political views, it's amazing that our country has come so far in the last 50 years.

I think that, in our society of reality TV shows, that we need to have a new qualification for our Presidents. They need to be able to go on “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader” and “Moment of Truth” and PASS. If they can do both of those things, they can be President. If not, try again in 4 years. It would sure rule out the stupid people (I’m sorry, 57 states in America? FDR was president during the Great Depression? There was a TV then? When did this happen!?), and it would force our politicians to be honest with us!

Now, on a lighter note.

Jason got pulled over... AGAIN! We drove to Bridgeport, NE yesterday afternoon. While on the way we passed a police officer. Jason was pretty worried about getting pulled over, so he drove 5mph BELOW the speed limit! About 3 minutes later, two patrol cars came FLYING up behind us and Jason just knew he was getting ticketed for SOMETHING. They passed us and pulled into a trailer park about 2 miles down the road. Nothing big, right?

So about 10 miles later we passed another officer, and again, Jason was driving slowly and carefully. The officer pulled out behind us, lights on, and Jason pulled over. Apparently in all the wind (and its VERY windy here!) one of our tail lights fell off, leaving a white light in the back, violating the law. No ticket issued... but I'm still laughing at him! He's been pulled over in EVERY state we've visited together! That makes 9 times in the last 2 years. He's not a crazy driver, but I guess there's something about tall redheads that screams "Suspicious!" :)

And on an even lighter note….

[blog edit: This is fake. It is funny, but fake! Thank you, Gary, for letting me know!!]

Must get going... need to find some Christmas cards!

Nebraska Politics

I just love Nebraska Politics. I heard an ad on the radio today that had me laughing pretty hard. The man speaking was obviously the man running. He said this: "I'm John Smith and I approve this message. Because I wrote it." I thought I was going to wet myself... it's about time somebody did that!! Who would have thought that politicians should write their own speeches, much less record their own radio ads!

Please remember to pray for our Nation today as we elect a new president. And please remember that if you don't vote, you have no room to complain about our Nation's leaders. And if you do vote and still don't like the way our Nation is being run, then do something about it in 4 years when it comes time to either reelect or elect a new leader!

Have a great November 4th, all! :)

Monday, Bloody Monday. Or was that Sunday? Whichever...

Sadie and Zeus got out on Halloween. They made it almost 12 miles before a farmer found them playing with his dogs. He locked them in his chicken coop (there were no chickens living there) and called us. Stupid dogs. Both gates are now chained and locked. Ugh. We didn't do anything special on the 31st - just stayed home and watched movies. We watched one on George Washington and another on Mt. Rushmore. They were both good. We also watched one on massage techniques - it wasn't exactly what the title and discrition claimed it would be... hah. Should have seen that one coming!

They moved the calves on Saturday. When we took the dogs for a walk on Sunday morning, the cows came running to the fence mooing at Sadie and Zeus. We're pretty sure the momma cows thought we had their calves. I'm not sure when I last saw a 50 pound calf play fetch... but whatever works for the momma cows. They moved the rest of them today. It will be nice not to hear anymore moos.

We visited the Methodist Church on Sunday. Neither of us had been to one before. They have some of the nicest people I've ever met, but we both left feeling "hungry." I think we're going to try the AOG church or the E-Free church next Sunday. I'm a little disapointed that there are no non-denominational churchs here, but I'm sure we will find a nice fit.

Jason's family sent us a very nice card today. His sister drew photos for each of us. I think that one photo is of me and one is of Jason, but she put Jason's name on the photo of me and my name on the photo of Jason. I got a nice long giggle out of it. Jason is wearing a superman shirt in his. I have green eyeshadow in mine. I love kids :)
